New ruby material from the old John Saul mine in Kenya is entering the market. These strongly fluorescent pink to red stones are very attractive under the sun or incandescent lighting. Material seen are in necklaces and small cabochons. Brokers said more, even some small faceted stones, is likely to come.
Big peridot cabochons are on the market. These stones are quite heavily included but show a deep olive green color. Stones seen are in the 30 to 50 carats range, some stones of 80 carats have been seen.
Nice tourmaline from Brazil are on the market. Very nice red stones, in the 3 to 5 carats size from this provenance have been seen. Clean blue-green stones in the same size range, apparently from Africa, are also on offer.
Phrenite, generally seen in green color cabochons have been seen in plain necklaces of very bright lemon yellow color.
