Light colored amethyst from Brazil is difficult to get in sizes from 15 carats up.
As many orders are running for this material, market reacted quickly by cutting dark zoned quartz from South India mines and introducing it as "pink amethyst" from Africa...
Buyers seem to be satisfied with the change.
